Woman · Life · Freedom is the English translation of the Kurdish slogan “Jin, Jiyan, Azadî.”
Born within Kurdish women’s movements, it carries a radical truth: without women’s freedom, there is no life — and without life, there can be no freedom.
The slogan became globally known in 2022, after the killing of Mahsa (Jina) Amini, who died in custody after being arrested by Iran’s morality police for allegedly not wearing her hijab “correctly.”
Her death ignited nationwide protests across Iran.
From that moment, Woman · Life · Freedom became the central feminist slogan of the uprising. A direct challenge to the control of women’s bodies. A demand for equality, bodily autonomy, and an end to systemic oppression under the current theocratic regime.
Today, Woman · Life · Freedom is a clear call for dignity, freedom, and fundamental human rights.
